Plaszow treats the wastewater from two thirds of Cracow's inhabitants and the sludge incineration plant will have a capacity of 20,000 ton sludge/year, as the plant will also treat the sludge from Jujawy - Cracow's other wastewater treatment plant. The technology applied is Pyrofluid® - one of Veolia's patented solutions where sludge is incinerated in a fluid bed oven which decomposes all organic substances.

Efficient sludge incineration with Pyrofluid®

The Pyrofluid® technology for sludge incineration has become very popular in Poland. The other two contracts awarded recently were also based on the Pyrofluid® technology. The first sludge incineration plant for which Krüger/VWS PL was awarded the contract a year ago, is constructed on behalf of Poland's largest refinery PKN Orlen and the work is already in full swing. The second sludge incineration plant is to treat the sludge from Lodz wastewater treatment plant in Poland.

Apart from this, Krüger/VWS in Poland also constructs a sludge incineration plant for Pomorzany wastewater treatment plant. Pomorzany applies the BioCon drying and incineration technology. With the three Pyrofluid® contracts we have now been awarded four contracts out of six invitations to tender for sludge incineration plants over the last few years.

Pyrofluid® plant at Plaszow wastewater treatment plant

The coming sludge incineration plant at Plaszow wastewater treatment plant is designed for receipt of the wet sludge for drying and incineration in the fluid bed oven. Furthermore, a flue gas cleaning plant will be installed to ensure compliance with all requirements to emission. The contract was entered into in cooperation with OTV PECO and VWS in Poland is the leader of the consortium.
